Feb 2019:- NLM Demonstrating and Workshops
at the Forum in Norwich

This year Members of Norfolk Lacemakers demonstrated their craft once again to the general public. They also held workshops for total novices to the craft. Feed back from the participants was very encouraging. This could become an annual event. The members holding the workshops have enjoyed the event and felt it worth while.


March 2018:- NLM Demonstrating and Workshops
at the Forum in Norwich

Makers Month is a festival of craft held at the Forum in Norwich. Norfolk Lacemakers demonstrated their skills to the general public. On a separate day they held workshops, lacemaking for beginners.They held two sessions morning and afternoon. It proved to be so successful, they have been invited back next year.


March 2016:⎯ NLM Lace Day Speaker Gwyned Roberts 'Lace to be Worn'
Gwyned gave a comprehensive talk on lace and how it was worn in the past. Some of the audience were invited to take part in demonstrating how to wear the garments. Her expert knowledge humor and wit were very well received.

 



March 2015:⎯ NLM Lace Day Speaker Louise West ' Cotton to Concrete and Beyond'
Louise's story and explanation of Cotton to Concrete was fascinating. Louise took a work shop on wire lace in which a number of members took part. They all enjoyed the challenge of working with wire.
  



18th Oct 2014:⎯ Fashion & Passion Norwich Castle
Norfolk Lacemakers together with other lacemakers were invited to exhibit and demonstrate lacemaking at Norwich Castle Museum. Although the day was very hectic with many visitors, all those that took part agreed it was a brilliant day for letting the public see lacemakers at work.

 

21st June 2014:⎯ Lace Awareness Day at the Forum
There were many lacemakers from around East Anglia making lace at the Forum in Norwich. The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Norwich ....... who spent at least an hour with us intrigued by the lacemakers skills. As always it was a resounding success.

 


17th June 2014:⎯ Visit Royal School of Needlework
The visit included a tour of the Royal School of Needlework workrooms, and an overall talk about the workings of the school.

 

 

1st March 2014:⎯ NLM Lace Day Speaker Francis Bell 'A Trip Down Memory Lane'

A great day was had by all at the Open Academy this year. Francis Bell was our speaker, she used objects to help spark memories from those of us that are old enough to recognise them. Francis had everyone laughing over the unusual things she had brought with her.
